About the Product
Tunnel Aged Green Tea - cured in the tunnels beneath Jozankei Dam on the outskirts of Sapporo - begins its journey as a high quality, blended leaf tea from sunny Kyushu in southern Japan.
The constant temperature of 8°C in the tunnels beneath the dam matures the leaves to draw out a rich green tea flavor with natural sweetness. Within Hokkaido, this tea is only available for sale in Jozankei Onsen Village, making it a true specialty item.
A little known fact is that cold-brewed green tea contains as little as 10% of the caffeine of hot-brewed green tea. Only limited amounts of this unique tea are produced every year, so why not treat yourself or surprise your tea-loving family and friends.
Green tea is ideal when brewed for 1 - 3 minutes, depending on personal preference, in 75°C spring/purified water. Available in packs of 10 tea bags, Tunnel Aged Green Tea can be consumed hot or cold.

about the producer
Uji Seicha is a family-owned tea company with a 55 year history in Sapporo! Founder Hitoshi Inoue was first sent to Hokkaido as an executive of a Kyoto-based tea company, a job he left to independently establish Uji Seicha in 1965 in Tsukisamu, Sapporo. His mission - to introduce quality Japanese teas to new markets - continues to this day. Current President Takashi Inoue, like his father, maintains the family passion for tea production, while striving to master both original varieties and time-tested classics. Inoue san utilizes proprietary techniques and local ingredients to take advantage of the cold, northern climate of Hokkaido. Uji Seicha works with trusted tea farmers throughout Japan to bring selected teas to the company's Sapporo facility for production. The Inoue family mission - to introduce quality Japanese teas to new customers - remains strong, and in 2010 they opened their showcase café in their small corner of Sapporo. The intimate café serves their entire line of teas, along with paired food and a variety of merchandise. We can only hope that the Inoue family business continues for another 55 years! ingredients
