About the Product
Hokkaido cultivar botan (peony) soba is a delicious, organic Hokkaido buckwheat noodle prized by chefs and gourmands for its sweet sub-flavors and firm texture. Growing in the sunny, spacious fields of Urausu in central Hokkaido - near the great Ishikari River - this traditional heirloom soba plant is taller than common varieties, and only grown in limited quantities.
The buckwheat flowers of the botan cultivar grow further apart on the stalk, while the seeds ripen naturally at different times making harvesting more difficult. The fields are also kept protected so that wild grass seeds do not mix into the crop and alter the taste.
In Hokkaido, soba enthusiasts make annual summer visits to the region's local festivals to sample this renowned organic cultivar. Now, with their packed dried soba, we can enjoy the unique taste at home too.
Tomato Udon noodles are a unique, delicious creation combining dried tomato skins with organic Hokkaido wheat for a perfect match. The thick udon noodles can be eaten in traditional udon style or as a pasta dish.
This udon is an epicurean noodle from the farming communities of Urausu in central Hokkaido, where the harvests of sunny, organic wheat fields are paired with locally-grown tomatoes for a unique, wholesome taste. Dried tomato skins - rich in healthful polyphenol antioxidants - are blended with organic udon wheat flour, resulting in flavorful tomato noodles with that classic chewy udon texture. These packed and dried udon noodles are loved by veterans and first-timers alike!
Conveniently, Box of 8 orders are customizable, so you can choose the ratio of soba vs. udon noodles to include in your order according to your preference.
