About the Product
Elegant glassware paired with the natural hues of Hokkaido wood - glasses nestled in wooden bases are a stylish addition to any home or dining establishment.

Small and large glasses - all hand-blown by artisans in Asahikawa's Arashiyama artist village - can be produced in three patterns: cracked, tornado and bubbles. They are set in simple, smooth-to-the-touch wooden bases made from Japanese Pagoda trees, a hard-wood common in Hokkaido's forests.

The glassware is popular as tableware in the region's quality hotels, restaurants and izakaya, and are now becoming noticed by private collectors for their stunning artistry.

about the producer
JUNCOBO is a glass studio based in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, for over 30 years. Artisans create a wide range of personal and household glassware that have long been used by hotels and restaurants in the region. In recent years the company has showcased its high-quality creations at exhibitions of Japanese products and arts throughout Asia.

Blowing and fusing techniques are used to craft glass into patterns and shapes that are both stylish to look at and practical to use. JUNCOBO's “Ki-gurasu/Wood-Glass” series of glassware set in wooden bases, crafted from Hokkaido wood (Japanese Pagoda), is the result of a collaboration with local wood craftspeople, and is enduringly popular with clients in the hospitality sector as well as private collectors.

Since 2008, the studio has used recycled biomass fuel to fire the glass process, and was the first art studio in Japan to be awarded the government’s Award for Global Warming Prevention Activities. JUNCOBO continues to create excellent, high-quality glassware with a strong commitment to preserving our ecology.
