These unique, custom-made Name Plates carved with your family name, a loving message or perhaps a nickname is a craft to be proudly displayed indoors or outdoors for years to come.
The Name Plates are carved out of Japanese Pagoda wood or the paler-colored Hokkaido Yew wood, utilizing traditional Ainu carving methods at a family workshop in the remote region of Eastern Hokkaido.
Each Name Plate will be hand-engraved onto wood using the rare Ukibori technique, where letters are carefully carved so they appear to stand out from the surface of the wood. The Ukibori technique is traditionally used for lucky items, while the cute Ural owls and Blakiston's fish owls (with ear "tufts") are friendly & protective deities in indigenous Ainu culture.
Please note that each Name Plate takes about 10 days to make in meticulous craftmanship.
