Ainu Print Wall Hanging (90cm x 35cm)
About the Product
The Ainu Print Wall Hanging combines traditional Ainu designs with an image of an elder village chief, emblazed with a unique typography spelling "Shiraoi" - the village at the heart of Ainu culture preservation in Hokkaido.
The Ainu are Hokkaido's indigenous people, and their iconic geometric designs are both beautiful and believed to ward off evil spirits.
As with most indigenous cultures in the world, each Ainu village was headed by an elder village chieftan, who remains a symbol of power and unity for the Ainu.
The wall hanging is approximately 90cm x 35cm in size (35" x 14"), and comes ready for hanging with string and wooden upper & lower border rods attached.
