About the Product
Time to bring Hokkaido's love of owls into your home with these beautiful wooden owl clocks, made of 100% natural uncolored wood, sourced from around the world and crafted in Hokkaido. The clock numbers and hands are also made from wood.
Owls in Hokkaido have been revered for thousands of years by the indigenous Ainu population as guardian deities of the forests, with three types of endemic owls found in the wild: Blakiston's fish owls, Ural owls and Short-eared owls. The Blakiston's fish owl is by far the most famous - and one of the world's rarest owls. It holds the title of the world's largest owl, with wingspans capable of stretching over 2 meters!
Whichever design you feel drawn to, your completed clock will be unique. Craftspeople select original colored and grained woods for each piece (the studio has up to 150 wood varieties in stock!). After the chosen wood is machine-cut the clocks are carefully assembled using a joined-block technique. No two clocks are the same, and people are often amazed to learn that wood can naturally exist in so many colors.
Owl clocks are all battery-powered. Exact grain patterns and colors may differ slightly from the photos, as each piece is custom-made and unique.
