About the Product
This two-set, pair of elegantly crafted wooden chopsticks are aesthetically decorated with traditional Japanese imagery using inlaid abalone shells, The chopsticks are also engravable, making them unique and treasured gifts for the lovely couples in your life.
Made in Hokkaido from toxin-free “natural wood”, which is kept free of any chemicals, preservatives or oils. The set includes two pairs of chopsticks: black (23cm) and red (20.5cm), protected in toxin-free colored resin and presented in a traditional box of paulownia wood.
Both are inlaid with traditional Tsukimi Japanese imagery - that of a rabbit, moon & pampas grass - depicting the fall harvest moon-viewing tradition celebrated across Japan. The rabbit and moon images are crafted from abalone shells. Many Japanese believe that a rabbit can be seen on the moon's surface during the harvest-moon, while pampas grass has traditionally offered protection from evil.
For an additional ¥500 per set, the chopsticks can be personalized with an engravable name or message in characters, hiragana, katakana or English alphabet.
Please note that the 20.5cm size may feel small for some adults.

about the producer
Sapporo Yokoso is a craft chopsticks shop in the heart of Sapporo that specializes in wooden chopsticks that are popular as wedding gifts, life celebrations, family use, ecological sustainability and local restaurants. The company, founded in 2007, promotes the national “My Chopsticks” ecology movement, which encourages the public to carry and use their own reusable chopsticks instead of the all-too-common disposable chopsticks (waribashi). Unfortunately, Japan uses over 20 BILLION sets of waribashi per year, mostly imported from China with wood sourced in Southeast Asia. Sapporo Yokoso's eco-mission combines true sustainability with craftmanship, creating stylish and attractive reusable chopsticks that can be personalized with engraved names or messages. Sapporo Yokoso uses "natural wood" timbers that have not been treated with chemicals, oils or preservatives, and only non-toxic, suitable-for-food protective resins are applied to some of the chopsticks. Their personalized, crafted chopsticks are popular with locals seeking wedding & anniversary gifts, families wanting to make meal time more fun, and those who seek to reduce environmental impacts and ingested toxins. |
